Mugatu Flies Home for Maiden Score

2 YO colt MUGATU broke his maiden in style on November 18, capturing a $50,000 MSW going 1 mile and 70 yds on the all weather track at Gulfstream Park. Purchased by Dan Preiss bloodstock for $14,000 at the 2023 OBS April Sale from the consignment of Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree Stables, the son of BLOFELD is owned by Average Joe Racing Stables, Ltd. and trained by Jeff Engler.

MUGATU settled off the early pace, inching his way into the outside path going around the far turn and chasing 3 1/2L off the leader through a :50.33 half-mile. Flying home down the stretch, he took command and pulled away to win by 3 1/4L in 1:42.24.

He is targeting an allowance at Gulfstream on 12/9.
